Scholarships: August 2011 Summer Program on Countering Terrorism


Scholarships are available for the summer program on “Countering Terrorism in the Post-9/11 World,” August 22-26, 2011 in The Netherlands. Sponsored by The Hague and the T.M.C. Asser Instituut. The scholarships are designed for students and young professionals from developing countries who otherwise might not be able participate due to financial constraints. Along with financial need, applicants must be able to demonstrate academic or professional excellence.

About the Summer Program

The objective of this new and unique Summer Program is to provide participants with a deepened understanding of the phenomena of violent radicalization and terrorism, the contemporary methods to counter it and the applicable international legal framework.

This is the first tailor-made program for graduate students and young professionals with an academic background in e.g. law, security studies, international relations, conflict studies, who are interested in pursuing careers in counter-terrorism and related fields of work.

The various lectures will be given by top-level speakers working in the field of counter-terrorism and international law, ranging from academic researchers to judges and civil society leaders. The program will also include a number of side events and visits to learn more about the organizations and individuals involved in countering terrorism.

The program includes a special visit to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
