The official journal of the International Network of Genocide Scholars (INoGS) is looking for papers on “New Perspectives on Soviet Mass Violence.” The editors welcome original and innovative articles dealing with all possible aspects of Soviet mass violence from the beginning of the civil war to the end of the Cold War. Financial Markets and Systemic Risk: The Global Repercussions of the U.S. Subprime Mortgage Meltdown
20 February 2009, Iowa College of Law, USA
The Journal of Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems (TLCP) at the University of Iowa College of Law, in conjunction with the University of Iowa Center for International Finance and Development (UICIFD), will hold a one-day symposium to identify the causes and origins of the current international financial crisis, to assess the regulatory responses in the U.S. and abroad, and to explore ways in which future financial crises can be prevented. The papers will be published in the TLCP in the winter of 2009, and the journal will arrange for funding to cover transportation and lodging for the symposium’s participants. learn more…

Scholarship: Ph.D., Legal Implications of Climatic Changes in the Arctic
The International Max Planck Research School for Maritime Affairs at the University of Hamburg will be awarding six Ph.D. scholarships for a two-year period beginning October 2008. Funded scholars will write a dissertation in German or English on the legal implications of climatic changes in the Arctic.
