Call for Papers: International Corrections and Police Association Conference


The International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) Program Committee invites persons who are interested in presenting a paper at its 2009 Annual Conference in Barbados from 25-30 October 2009 to submit ideas for consideration. The ICPA welcomes any proposals for individual papers, symposia, or panel presentations within the general theme of “New Horizons.”

Preference will be given to proposals on:

  • Racial Disparity and Over-Representation in Criminal Justice;
  • Radicalisation, Extremism and the Management of Terrorist Prisoners;
  • Corrections in the New World of Financial Meltdown: Implications and Responses;
  • Sentencing & Criminal Justice Reforms in Managing Growing Prisoner Populations;
  • Community Engagement in Prisoner Re-Entry/Reintegration;
  • Innovative Models of Intervention;
  • Facility Planning and Design;
  • Prisoner and Staff Safety;
  • Staff Training;
  • Prisoner Management;
  • Correctional Leadership;
  • Corrections Experience in Post-Conflict Situations;
  • Community Corrections / Probation and Parole; and
  • Care and Custody of Prisoners with Mental Health Needs

Presentations may be in English or Spanish.

The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2009.
